Are you a youth leader? Perhaps this is your first year serving as part of a team of fellow volunteers in your church? Or, perhaps you are someone who has volunteered as a youth leader in your church for a few years, but you’ve never really thought much about what your role entails.

Well, we would love to invite you to join us for a special day of youth leader training on Saturday 24th September from 10am to 1pm at The Baptist Centre in Moira.

The 3 sessions of the day will be broken down as follows:

Session 1:

In the first session we’ll think about the spiritual significance of youth ministry. Who are we as youth leaders? What are we ultimately aiming to accomplish in the lives of young people? What does a bible centred youth ministry look like and how should that affect my role as a youth work volunteer? It sometimes seems like young people aren’t interested in listening to long Bible talks and talking about their faith. How does this impact what we do?

Session 2:

In the second session we’ll think about the relational aspect of youth ministry. Do you ever feel old and irrelevant as a youth leader? Even if you’re only 21 years old, it sometimes feels like the young people in your youth group are totally different to the sort of young person you were just 5-10 years ago. Why are youth always on their phones? How have lockdowns and restrictions changed their outlook on life? What sort of questions should I ask that will encourage and stimulate meaningful conversations?

Session 3:

In the final session, we’ll think about certain topical aspects of youth ministry. One of our greatest challenges as youth leaders today is navigating the complex world that our young people are living in. It seems like they are bombarded by cultural messages and issues that simply didn’t exist just a short few years ago. How can we help young people delight in the truth in a world full of lies? In this last session we’ll try and think through some of these specific challenges

If you like the look of some of these sessions, then make sure and join us on Saturday 24th September. You can come along as an individual or, better yet, bring some fellow youth work volunteers along with you in order to discuss and feedback the information together. In order to attend, we do require registration. To do this, simply fill out the form below. From here you can register for the event at a cost of just £5.

Psalm 78:4-7

“We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children,  so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments
