The Ministries
Baptist Youth is ran through a number of committees. These committees are made up of representatives from various Baptist Churches within the Association.
Management Committee
The Youth Management Committee has overall responsibility for Baptist Youth. It consists of 12 voting members who serve for 4 year terms. Sub-committees are appointed by Youth Management Committee to take responsibility for various areas of Baptist Youth activities. There are approximately 40 individuals across all committees who volunteer their services in order that BY can put together a full programme of events each year. The Management Committee also oversees the work of ‘The Amazing Journey.’
Sub-Committees :
BYE Committee
The BYE is responsible for organising and facilitating of BYE (Baptist Youth Evangelism) teams. Members of BYE committee liaise with churches, appoint leaders and organise BYE leaders / workers training events. To find out more about BYE teams, check out our ‘camps & Teams’ section.
Camp Committee
Every year, Baptist Youth offer a range of camps for children and young people in Easter and Summer time. The Camp committee is responsible for reviewing and improving the camp experience offered by Baptist Youth. To find out more about the camps on offer, check out our ‘Camps & Teams’ section.
Youth Ministry Committee
Through offering training, resources and organising events, the Youth Ministry committee specifically aims to encourage teenagers to grow in their love of Jesus Christ. In recent years, the youth ministry committee has organised EYL (Equipping Youth Leaders) events as well as #SYNC which brings youth groups together for a night of worship.
Children’s Ministry Committee
The children’s committee are responsible for supporting local churches in their kids ministries. In recent years, this has been achieved through offering training events like ‘Refresh’ - a special morning of equipping children’s ministry workers. The committee also organise special children’s ministry events. Each November, a couple hundred children gather together for a night of craft, games, songs and bible teaching at ‘Uncover.’
Missions Committee
We pray that all our children and young people will grow up with a passion for mission. The Missions Committee strategically produce resources and organise events that contribute toward this aim. The Children’s Ministry project is a special resource which is available for churches to utilise in their Sunday Schools or kids clubs. This material has a special missionary focus and is written, in its entirety, by the Baptist Youth Missions Committee. In recent years, this committee have also offered special events, such as ‘Advance,’ for young people to attend and learn more about mission.
Student Ministry Committee
University, as well as other forms of third level education, provides students with terrific gospel opportunities but also many temptations and challenges. The student ministry committee aims to support students on campus primarily through events such as ‘Transition’ and ‘Forensic.’ ‘Transition’ occurs at the end of August and equips Freshers for the challenges of university life. Forensic runs twice per semester at Great Victoria Street Baptist Church. It helps students think through difficult contemporary issues from a Biblical perspective.
